Just days after completing the opening of the Makahiki ceremonies on island, Lono revealed himself once more, actually twice more.
An earthquake registering 4.6 on the Richter scale was felt by folks on Maui and soon reported to be south of Kaho’olawe. Mike Nahoopii with the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission pinpointed the temblor’scoordinates at approximately 1/2 mile off Kaulana. A small group headquartered at Honokanai`a moved mauka initially, then back to shore when all was clear to do so. No tsunami was generated. Two quakes felt on Maui and another nearer Hawai’i island.
