Protect Kaho‘olawe ‘Ohana. The term, "‘ohana," reflects the way we care for one another on island. It tells us who cares for whom and who does what jobs. Some plant native grasses, some conduct ceremonies, some place pōhaku, some drive the boat, some plan the projects and some do the shopping. Not all ‘Ohana members come on island, but all efforts contribute to the restoration of the island, to the progress of Kanaloa.

You can, too.

Need some ideas?

  • $5,000 will purchase supplies for a native plant nursery in Hakioawa for out planting on Kaho'olawe
  • $200 sponsors one student’s huaka'i costs so they can experience the island with the rest of their class
  • $100 helps with purchasing food to feed volunteers while on island working on ecosystem restoration and cultural preservation projects
  • $50 gets a new lantern for evenings around the camp
  • $25 buys one box of 3-mil contractors bags for waterproof transport of supplies and gear

‘A‘ohe pilo uku. No gift is too small.

As a tax-exempt, not-for-profit corporation that directly supports the Protect Kaho‘olawe ‘Ohana, the Protect Kaho‘olawe Fund is overseen by a volunteer board of directors. The ‘Ohana depends on individual donations, grants and partnerships to support our mission and vision.

Mahalo piha to our generous donors for our Lanakila Kahoʻolawe fundraiser on July 26, 2025
